Matt Breckenfeld grew up in Birmingham, Michigan and spent his childhood summers in Harbor Springs. After graduating from Western Michigan University with a Bachelor of Business Administration, he spent time on the Columbia River in Oregon. In 1999, with the waters of the Great Lakes calling, he returned to Harbor Springs as a permanent resident.
Water has always been a calling, whether sailing, paddling, wakeboarding, windsurfing, or surfing. His desire to see and understand the boundless waters propelled a career with Irish Boat Shop for over a decade in sales and customer service. In the process, Matt steadily worked toward his own goal of sailing away on an adventure-of-a-lifetime with his wife and two sons.
Since his return, he has turned his focus to real estate, utilizing his extensive knowledge of the Northern Michigan communities and the surrounding waters that make this area so special. His experience, quiet and caring demeanor, and attention to detail makes him a valuable advisor and Realtor.
In his spare time, Matt skis and snowboards, still sails, serves on the Board of Little Traverse Sailors and coaches the Harbor Springs middle school FIRST Robotics team.
